Kosmos wick

Postby Peter Stinson on Wed Jan 13, 2010 12:41 pm

I am attempting to get my latest aquisition working with some difficulty. It is an old Kosmos style with the addititonal air intake. Its a 6''' burner and I am using a 27mm flat wicl which I am lead to believe is the right size. I can load a new wick but I am having trouble with the winder. When the wick is approximately 1/4 inch from the top of the wick tube it sticks and the cogs slip on the wick and tear it to shreds. By fashioning a wire hook I can easily pull the wick through and in that state the wick will wind down but will not wind up. I have had this problem before and put it down to a bent wick tube and fitted a new burner but the current burner is unique and I want to use it so I have to solve the problem.
Any one had this problem?
